Apple Music Launches Concert Discovery Guides & Set Lists Feature

38

Apple Music, the successor of digital music pioneer iTunes, has expanded its reach into the world of live music with a new concert discovery feature powered by Apple Maps as well as a Set Lists feature that provides playlists generated from the setlists of major tours.

The new concert discovery feature offers 40 new Guides highlighting the best live music venues in ten featured cities, each curated by Apple Music editors. Fans can browse upcoming shows directly in Maps through Shazam’s concert discovery module, which uses information from Bandsintown. Featured cities include Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, and San Francisco in North America; Berlin, London, Paris, and Vienna in Europe; Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney in the Asia-Pacific region; and Mexico City in Latin America.

In addition to the concert discover feature, Apple Music also introduced a Set Lists feature that “shines a light on a selection of major tours, letting fans listen to set lists and read about the productions.” The Set Lists feature provides playlists based on the setlists from major tours, giving fans the option to preview an upcoming concert or relive a past live music experience. The playlists are comprised of the recordings as they appear in Apple Music’s catalog, rather than live recordings from the actual concert, and the feature is not geared toward artists that change their setlists from show to show.

Both features are available now. Click here to acces Apple Music’s Guides and click here to access Apple Music’s Set Lists.
