’At The Atlantis’: Foo Fighters Open New Washington DC Club

37

Foo Fighters played the first concert at Washington D.C.’s intimate venue The Atlantis on Tuesday. Foo frontman Dave Grohl, who spent his formative years in the D.C. area, welcomed his former Scream bandmate Peter Stahl for a fitting Bad Brains cover to open the first concert “At The Atlantis.”

Located near the current location of D.C.’s renowned 9:30 Club, The Atlantis occupies and is a replica of the venue that used to be located in the 9:30 Club’s original space. Foo Fighters and their DC area native frontman Dave Grohl were appropriately announced as the first band to play the 450-capacity venue in April.

Foo Fighters made the show even more fitting by bringing in Peter Stahl of Scream, a band Dave played in before joining Nirvana. The collab kicked off the concert with Stahl joining FF to front the band on the thrashy’ “At The Atlantis.”

The song appears on the influential punk band Bad Brains’ 1996 album, Black Dots, which was taken from one of the band’s earliest recording sessions in 1979. Watch video of Foo Fighters and Peter Stahl on “At The Atlantis” below:
