Cindy Blackman-Santana, legendary drummer and wife of Carlos Santana, will hit the road for a series of festival appearances with The Cindy Blackman-Santana Band this June. She will be joined by a rotating lineup of collaborators including John Medeski, Ravi Coltrane, and Felix Pastorius.
Blackman-Santana will kick things off on June 11th at Blue Note Napa in Napa, CA, where she will be joined by saxophonist Emilio Modeste, keyboardist Zaccai Curtis, and bassist Felix Pastorious.
The quartet will perform a set with jazz guitarist David Gilmore and saxophonist Ravi Coltrane at San Francisco Jazz Festival on June 14th, where they will offer a special tribute to jazz drummer Tony Williams with help from John Medeski on organ and Vernon Reid on guitar.
Blackman-Santana, Pastorious, and Gilmore will play together again at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club in Bethesda, MD before wrapping the tour with Coltrane on June 24th at the Saratoga Jazz Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY.
