Give Praise: Lukas Nelson + POTR Share ‘Alcohallelujah’ Single

Lukas Nelson + POTR offer up a confession with new single “Alcohallelujah.” The song is the second to be shared from the group’s forthcoming Sticks & Stones album, which arrives on July 14 via 6ACE Records/Thirty Tigers.

Frontman Lukas Nelson wrote all 12 songs featured on the follow-up to 2021’s A Few Stars Apart and produced the album with assists from longtime backing band POTR. Nelson + POTR previously unveiled the LP’s lead single, “More Than Friends,” a duet between Nelson and country star Lainey Wilson.

“This album is about celebrating the human connection, joy and excitement,” wrote Lukas Nelson in regards to Sticks & Stones. “We went from quiet and introspective on A Few Stars Apart to something big and fun to really showcase the band’s talent and performance. You can listen to the album Sticks and Stones from start to finish and get the songs to dance to and then the quiet, poignant songs.”

“Alcohallelujah” begins with an angelic a capella recitation of the song’s title. Lukas Nelson then sings about his love of drinking and the pros and cons it presents. Nelson even throws in a reference to his father Willie Nelson‘s legendary song “Whiskey River.” POTR rocks out in the background with slide guitar and barrelhouse piano howling underneath the lyrics.
