Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade Launches 1st Tour In 20 Years With Fishbone’s Angelo Moore

Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade’s first tour in 20 years began with a pair of shows held at the South Shore Room in Stateline, Nevada. The concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday both featured saxophonist Angelo Moore of openers Fishbone sitting in with the Brigade.

Joining bassist Les Claypool on the Summer Of Green Tour is his The Claypool Lennon Delirium bandmate Sean Ono Lennon on guitar, that group’s Paulo Baldi on drums, Mike Dillon (who enlisted in the Brigade in 2002) on percussion and Harry Waters on keyboards. Prior to the start of the tour, Claypool announced that original Frog Brigade member Skerik would miss some of the first shows while the saxophonist recovered from a shoulder injury. The announcement stated “random ‘special’ guests” would appear in Skeirk’s place, which proved true with Moore’s contributions to the concerts at the South Shore Room.

Each of Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade’s Summer Of Green Tour shows features a complete performance of Pink Floyd’s album Animals. Tuesday’s tour opener began with a cover of King Crimson’s “Thela Hun Ginjeet” followed by “David Makalaster” and the first two movements of the Delirium’s “Cricket And The Genie.”

After presenting Animals, the show continued with the Les Claypool & The Holy Mackerel songs “Precipitation” and “Highball With The Devil.” Moore then came out to add sax to Claypool’s “One Better.” A subsequent “D’s Diner” closed the main set and “Cosmic Highway” finished in the encore slot.

Moore returned last night to again sit-in with the Brigade. The Fishbone sax player accompanied the band on Claypool’s “Rumble of the Diesel” early in the show. View videos of Moore’s guest spots below:
