My Morning Jacket & Lana Del Rey Among Recent Newport Folk Festival 2023 Lineup Additions

31

My Morning Jacket and Lana Del Rey have been added to the Newport Folk Festival 2023 lineup. The long-running festival returns to Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island on July 28 – 30.

MMJ previously performed at the 2005 and 2012 editions of Newport Folk. The band was also made an unannounced appearance at the 2015 fest, which included a performance backing Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters. My Morning Jacket is scheduled to perform on Friday, July 28 at this year’s Newport Folk Fest.

The festival will make a customary “Artist Give” donation to an organization of the band’s selecting, with Young Authors Greenhouse chosen as the band’s beneficiary. “[Young Authors Greenhouse] offers writing programs for young people in Louisville. The funds will be used for a songwriting program for 20 middle school students who will collaborate with established musicians to form bands, write and record original lyrics onto a record album, and then perform their work in front of a live audience.”

Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey will perform on Sunday, July 30. For her “Artist Give” beneficiary, Del Rey selected Music On The Inside to receive a grant from the Newport Festivals Foundation. “[Music On The Inside] works with professional musicians to bring the transformative power of music to those who are incarcerated or facing the challenges of reentry.”

MMJ and Del Rey join a Newport Folk 2023 lineup that includes Billy Strings, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Goose, Nickel Creek, Maggie Rogers, Los Lobos, The Hold Steady and Mdou Moctar, among others.

The 2023 Newport Folk Festival is sold-out. A wait list is available to notified if tickets become available. View the 2023 lineup to date below.
