Old Crow Medicine Show Preps ‘Live At Third Man Records’ Album

35

Old Crow Medicine Show will issue a live album, Live At Third Man Records, on June 2 via Third Man Records. The physical-only release was recorded direct-to-acetate and captures the Americana act’s April 22, 2022 concert at TMR’s Blue Room in the band’s home base of Nashville.

The show saw Old Crow Medicine Show celebrating the release of their seventh studio album, Paint This Town. The band — Ketch Secor, Morgan Jahnig, Cory Younts, Jerry Pentecost, Mike Harris and Mason Via — performed most of Paint This Town for the celebratory concert. OCMS opened with the title track and also included the LP’s “Bombs Away,” “Honey Chile,” “Gloryland” and more.

The concert was captured direct-to-acetate, a process only available at Third Man Records’ facilities in Detroit and Nashville. A press release detailed the process:

Third Man Records’ live direct-to-acetate recordings take place in the Blue Room in Nashville, TN and are cut exclusively on a 1955 Scully lathe that originally came from King Records in Cincinnati. Recorded live in one shot, with no overdubs, no redo’s, no starting-and-stopping, the process is truly of another time, rendered obsolete by the late 1950’s and only available nowadays in TMR’s locations in Detroit and Nashville.
