Oteil & Friends Plan Show At The Capitol Theatre Ft. Melvin Seals, Steve Kimock, More

Oteil Burbridge bolstered his Oteil & Friends fall tour on Monday with the addition of a stop at The Capitol Theatre on September 23rd. The concert in Port Chester, NY will see the Dead & Company bassist round up organist Melvin Seals, guitarists Steve Kimock and Duane Betts, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, drummer Johnny Kimock, and vocalist Lamar Williams Jr.

“We’re delighted to get back to The Cap, there’s some special magic about that room that just can’t be put into words,” Burbridge wrote in a social media post.

A limited number of pre-sale tickets for Oteil & Friends at The Capitol Theatre on September 23rd are on sale now using the code THECAP. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. ET.

This particular lineup of Oteil & Friends carries numerous connections to The Allman Brothers Band. Burbridge himself got his first major break when he served as the legendary Georgia band’s bassist beginning in 1997 through the group’s grand finale on October 28th, 2014 at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Duane Betts is of course the son of co-founding guitarist Dickey Betts, who has carried on the ABB legacy as a co-founder of the Allman Betts Band alongside fellow musical heirs Devon Allman and Berry Duane Oakley. Finally, Lamar Williams Jr.—son of bassist Lamar Williams—also carries the flame of the Allman Brothers through myriad projects and sit-ins, most recently as a member of the officially sanctioned cover band Trouble No More alongside Brandon “Taz” Niederaurer, Daniel Donato, Dylan Niederauer, Jack Ryan, Nikki Glaspie, Peter Levin, and Roosevelt Collier.

Prior to his run of fall tour dates, Burbridge will help close the book on another musical legacy with Dead & Company‘s Final Tour. Set to begin this weekend in L.A., the run of summer dates will mark the last together for the Grateful Dead offshoot featuring Bob WeirMickey HartJeff ChimentiJohn Mayer, and Jay Lane (replacing original Dead drummer Bill Kreuztmann for the entire tour).
