Philly Music Fest returns for its seventh year showcasing the city’s vibrant music scene with performances at six independent venues across Philadelphia between October 9 and 15. Kurt Vile & The Violators, Marian Hill and Mo Lowda & the Humble are among acts featured on the Philly Music Fest 2023 lineup.

Founded in 2017 by Philadelphia husband and wife team, Greg and Jenn Seltzer, Philly Music Fest is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting and highlighting the local musical community. Profits are donated to music education programs in the area after all artists and venues are paid in an effort to secure the next generation of Philadelphia musicians.

Other Philadelphia-based artists slated to play PMF 2023 include Chris Forsyth, Charlie Hall (The War On Drugs), Schoolly D, Tigers Jaw, Algernon Cadwallader, Sadurn, Gladie, Knifeplay, Trap Rabbit, Ryan Gilfilian and more. Independent Philadelphia venues World Café Live, Johnny Brenda’s, Ardmore Music Hall, Milkboy, Solar Myth and Underground Arts will each host shows as part of the Philly Music Fest.

Kurt Vile helped curate the lineup and will headline the action at Ardmore Music Hall on October 9 and 10. Vile stated the following about what to expect:

“Sun Ra Arkestra blew my mind at Ardmore Music Hall shortly before the pandemic and I’ve been excited to play there ever since. It’s a thrill to be able to put two nights of shows together there: one with a Philly icon, Schoolly D, whose voice is just unbelievable, my favorite classic voice from Philly, so deep that it just cuts right through into your brain and soul. I can’t believe we get to play with Schoolly, he was the first person I requested actually… when I heard he agreed I definitely lost it a little bit. It’s just a Philly family affair all around, baby.”

Tickets for each of the seven Philly Music Fest 2023 shows go on sale this Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. ET. Head to phillymusicfest.com to purchase and for a breakdown of concerts by venue.
