Sacred Rose Music Festival Will Not Return This Year

48

After debuting in 2022, the Sacred Rose music festival will not return in 2023. Organizers shared a statement indicating the event held last August at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois was taking a hiatus, while leaving open the possibility of another fest in the future.

Held in suburban Chicago, the inaugural Sacred Rose took place August 26 – 28, 2022, though the final day was disrupted by bad weather. Among the highlights were Phil Lesh & Friends accompanied by Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline of Wilco for a PHILCO headlining performance and artist-at-large Margo-Price sitting-in with Goose.

Several acts slated to perform on the final day including Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Khruangbin, Greensky Bluegrass and Kamasi Washington were among the artists whose sets were canceled due to thunderstorms in the area. Organizers later offered partial refunds due to the cancellations.

While there will not be a Sacred Rose 2023, the note from organizers said they are participating in “SR-adjacent events … throughout the Chicagoland area, one of which will be a new and unique two-day event in September 2023.” The statement also indicated future Sacred Rose fests will take place at a location other than SeatGeek Stadium.
