The Hold Steady will perform at the 2023 Newport Folk Festival on Saturday, July 29. The storied event takes place at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island July 28 – 30.
Newport Folk announced The Hold Steady today via social media. The long-running festival has been rolling out 2023 artists over the course of the year and donating to a charity of the performer’s choosing as they are announced.
For The Hold Steady’s “Artist Give,” the band asked that Newport Folk provide a grant to Willie Mae Rock Camp, which “empowers girls and gender-expansive youth through music education,” Newport Folk wrote in the social media post. “The funds will be used for their after-school digital mentorship program where students learn the essentials of creating electronic music using synthesizers, recording technology, digital audio workstations, and applications.”
Additionally, a number of artists have been announced in the past couple of weeks since the fesival brought on announced Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit including Nickel Creek, Heavy Makeup, Sumbuck, Ron Gallo, Slaughter Beach Dog, Mereba, Black Opry Revue, Senora May and Gabriels.
