36

California-based collective The Latin Dead are bringing their signature mix of Latin Jazz and the music of the Grateful Dead to the East Coast for the first time this July. The large ensemble, which includes guitarist John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra, Furthur, Melvin Seals & JGB), will hit Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Pawtucket (Rhode Island) and Bridgeport (Connecticut) between July 26 – 30.

The Latin Dead recently released Eyes Of The World featuring their interpretations of 11 Grateful Dead classics. July’s tour dates mark their initial performances outside of California. The group consists of bandleader Óscar Hernández on piano, Kadlecik, Andy Vargas (vocals), Rene Camacho (bass), Andy Sanesi (drums), Pete Nater (trumpet), Francisco Torres (trombone), Katisse Buckingham (tenor & alto saxophone, flute), Cha-Cha Charlie Chávez (congas, timbales, bongo, percussion) and Brenden Tacon (bongo, congas, bell).

On July 26, The Latin Dead will begin the short trek with their New York City debut at Brooklyn Bowl. Next, the outfit hits Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia on July 27. It’s then off to The Met in Pawtucket on July 29 before The Latin Dead ends the jaunt at Bridgeport’s Park City Music Hall on July 30.

Tickets for all four The Latin Dead shows are on sale now.
