The Revivalists Deliver Uplifting ‘Kid’ Performance On ‘Today Show’

The Revivalists returned to The Today Show on Thursday, seven years after making their national television debut on the program. The New Orleans-based rockers spoke with hosts of the 10 a.m. hour Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager before performing the euphoric “Kid.”

“Kid” is one of 12 tracks featured on Pour It Out Into The Night, the band’s new studio album. The long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s Take Good Care arrives next Friday, June 2 via Concord Records.

Jenna Bush Hager asked The Revivalists how the new album is different from past efforts. “There are a lot of changes that all of us have been going through … kids were born,” frontman David Shaw explained. “I felt like we had something really special on this one and are really excited to share it with the world,” added guitarist Zack Feinberg. The band also discussed the importance of New Orleans on their sound.

The Revivalists released “Kid” in February as the first taste of Pour It Out Into The Night. “‘Kid’ is about capturing the essence of life,” noted Shaw. “We all go through ups and downs. Sometimes, we don’t believe in ourselves. We’ve got skeletons in the closet trying to drag us down. But you’ve got to believe in yourself. You’ve just got to live for the spirit. Nothing good ever comes easy. If you don’t have hope, what do you have?”
