Umphrey’s McGee continues to commemorate their 25th anniversary with the upcoming release of the documentary Frame x Frame. The “celebration of 25 years of music and the next best show” premieres both in-person and via livestream on Sunday, June 11.
Director Pete Herzog and producer Kevin Browning culled UM’s extensive archives to create the new retrospective “rockusensory” film detailing the story of a band who have shared the stage together more than 2,600 times since 1998. “I love music documentaries and in 2011, I had a vision that I wanted to direct a 25th-anniversary rockumentary for UM,” Herzog explained. “Since 2006, our family has been vacationing around the band’s tour schedule and have seen some amazing sights, met some incredibly kind people, and rocked the hell out of some concerts.”
Frame x Frame premieres live on nugs.net at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT on June 11. A Q&A will follow the debut airing. Pre-orders start tomorrow (Wednesday, May 24) at 11 a.m. ET. Pricing is set at $19.99 for the first 500 pre-orders and then shifts to $24.99. Those who get in on the $19.99 offering will have their name included in the movie’s credits.
Umphrey’s McGee will host a special in-person premiere at the historic Music Box Theatre in their hometown of Chicago on the 11th. The screening will be followed by the aforementioned Q&A, which will be held on stage at the theater with Herzog and Browning joined by UM guitarist Brendan Bayliss and percussionist Andy Farag. Tickets for the in-person screening go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, May 24) at 12 p.m. CT at $24.99 each via the Music Box Theatre’s website.
