Watch Brandi Carlile & Nathaniel Rateliff Team Up For Joyful ‘Islands In The Stream’ Cover At Mothership Weekend

Over the past three days, Brandi Carlile hosted and headlined the inaugural Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida. Carlile was joined by a number of special guests during her set on Friday, including fellow fest performer Nathaniel Rateliff.

On site for a performance with his band Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Rateliff emerged to duet with Carlile on the Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton classic duet “Islands In The Stream.” Carlile’s set on Friday also saw guest appearances by her wife, vocalist Catherine Shepherd Carlile and another Mothership Weekend performer, singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt.

“Islands In The Stream,” which was titled after an Ernest Hemingway novel, was written by the Bee Gees and recorded by Rogers and Parton for the former’s 1983 album, Eyes That See In The Dark.
