Colter Wall released a new single, “Corralling The Blues.” The track is set for the Saskatchewan-based singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album, Little Songs, arriving on July 14 via Wall’s La Honda label and new partner RCA Records.
“Coralling The Blues” and the rest of the originals on Little Songs were written in Wall’s home of Battle Creek, Saskatchewan. Colter co-produced the new record with frequent collaborator Patrick Lyons at Yellowdog Studios in Wimberley, Texas.
Wall announced Little Songs in late April and shared his take on Hoyt Axton’s “Evangelina” as the lead single. The cover is just one of two on Colter’s new record — along with Ian Tyson’s “The Coyote & The Cowboy” — with the rest of the LP’s 10 tracks penned by Wall, including the latest single.
ON “Corraling The Blues,” “Wall sings about depression and its largely unaddressed presence in agricultural communities and individuals with such charm that it’s easy to miss just how down-and-out the song’s leading character has become,” as per press materials for the new single. “…Fluttering harmonica melodies and sly dobro fills weave together Wall’s to-the-point, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, with enough jest to make even the most downhearted listener crack a smile.”
