The Flaming Lips brought a psychedelic spectacle to Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday in honor of the 20th anniversary of the band’s landmark album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
The band opened the show by playing the album in its entirety while giant pink robots dramatized the action. A maelstrom of confetti and streamers signaled the second set, which featured songs from throughout the band’s catalog plus a cover of Madonna’s “Borderline”. Another cover, Louis Armstrong’s classic “What a Wonderful World”, capped off a four-song encore.
