Healing Appalachia, a music festival dedicated to raising funds and awareness to combat opioid addiction, will return to the State Fair of West Virginia in Lewisburg, WV September 21st–23rd, 2023 with a lineup featuring Tyler Childers, Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB, Gov’t Mule, Umphrey’s McGee, Marcus King, and more.
Healing Appalachia is produced by Hope in the Hills, an organization founded in 2016 after 26 people overdosed in a single day in the small town of Huntington, WV. The group supports a wide array of projects and programs from youth prevention, healthy lifestyles, and wellness to recovery houses and recovery to work.
“Like Farm Aid does to raise awareness and funds for America’s small, sustainable family farms, we want to bring together folks to raise funds and awareness to celebrate recovery through our main event Healing Appalachia each September, and work year-round on more projects fostering communities of recovery,” the festival website reads.
Rounding out the 2023 artist lineup are Charles Wesley Godwin, 49 Winchester, Amythyst Kiah, Katie Pruitt, Arlo McKinley, John R Miller, Tommy Prine, Kelsey Waldon, William Matheny, Emily Nenni, Joslyn & The Sweet Compression, Tre Burt, Drayton Farley, Ritch Henderson, Tim Goodin, Jeremy Short, John Inghram, Matt Mullins & The Bringdowns, Stereophonic, and Kindred Valley.
Tier One tickets are now available for Healing Appalachia email subscribers (check your inbox), and tickets will go on sale to the general public on June 15th at 10 a.m. ET. The festival stated, “Since Hope in the HIlls is volunteer-run and recovery-based we’re keeping tickets at a bare minimum so anyone can come and be lifted up.” Tickets include all three days and onsite primitive camping.
