On Monday Greensky Bluegrass wrapped up their Camp Greensky Iceland destination event with their third of three concerts at Reykjavík’s Harpa Concert Hall featuring keyboardist Holly Bowling. “6reensky” debuted four originals in Reykjavík, including the anthemic “Distracted” during the first set on the final night.

After mailing “A Letter To Seymour” to kick off Monday’s first set, GSBG and Bowling played the tender “In Control,” a well-jammed “Take Cover” and intense “Past My Prime.” The six musicians then offered “Congratulations & Condolences,” which will stand as the quintet’s latest single until “Get Out” drops on Friday.

Mandolinist Paul Hoffman helmed the ensuing “Distracted.” Greensky Bluegrass and Holly Bowling spent time recording at Iceland’s Flóki Studios before heading to Reykjavík to headline the destination event. The powerful number, based around a repeating riff anchored by bassist Mike Devol, was among the songs they tracked. Dobroist Anders Beck took the first solo before Hoffman utilized a delay effect for a trippy solo of his own and Bowling tickled the ivories ahead of a return to the final chorus.

“It sure is fun playing these new songs for you folks because we just recorded them last week,” Beck told the crowd. “We might/probably won’t play them [again] for months because that’s what were supposed to do, so we hope you enjoyed them.” Anders then joked “we’ll be wiping your phones on the way out.”

Beck introduced The Lil Smokies fiddler Jake Simpson after the banter about the debut. 6reensky had worked out a theme song for the Montana resident entitled “Smokey Jake Simpson” they played as the fiddler emerged. Simpson added to fan-favorites “I’d Probably Kill You” and “Leap Year” to close Monday’s first set. The latter was a typically adventurous version that spanned over 15 minutes.

The five-piece and keyboardist delivered a fully seamless second set on Monday. 6reensky mixed such beloved originals as “Worried About The Weather,” “Don’t Lie” and “Kerosene” with a series of covers. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon classics “Time” and “Breathe Reprise” were played early and late in the frame respectively, while the closing stanza also included takes on The New Basement Tapes’ “When I Get My Hands On You” and Grateful Dead gem “Let It Grow.” Monday’s “Don’t Lie” was split by “When I Get My Hands On You,” “Kerosene,” “Let It Grow” and “Breathe Reprise.”

6reensky brought Camp Greensky Iceland to a close with a “Reverend” encore. The band, sans Bowling, launches their upcoming summer tour with an appearance and late-night show at Telluride Bluegrass Festival later this month. Holly Bowling will perform at JamBase’s 25th Anniversary Quadranscentennial Silver Jubilee as part of a triple bill with the Jennifer Hartswick Band and Ron Artis II at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts on Saturday, August 19.
