Courtney Barnett Plans U.S. Tour Dates In Support Of New Instrumental Album

Courtney Barnett announced 2023 Fall tour Dates in the U.S. The trek will come in support of a new instrumental album, End Of The Day, due out on September 8 as the last album on Barnett’s Milk! Records label and arrives in conjunction with Mom + Pop.

End Of The Day follows Barnett’s 2021 album Things Take Time, Take Time. The new record consists of 17 instrumental compositions created with producer/collaborator Stella Mozgawa that also serve as the soundtrack to the Barnett-centric documentary Anonymous Club, directed by Danny Cohen.

“End Of The Day is a meditative, slow-burning and beautiful record, prioritizing atmosphere, tone and texture over traditional song structures and melodic hooks,” as per a press release for the new LP. “It’s a fearless and stunning turn for an artist who built her formidable reputation through profound lyricism and riff-based fireworks.”

Barnett previewed End Of The Day with three tracks — “Start Somewhere,” “Life Balance” and “First Slow” — that arrived with a Claire Marie Vogel-directed visual accompaniment. Watch below:

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett will hit the road in the U.S. this fall around End Of The Day. The concerts on the tour will consist of two sets. The first will see Barnett and collaborator Stella Mozgawa delivering instrumental tracks and improvisations from End Of The Day. The second set will feature Courtney performing songs from her back catalog.

The tour gets underway on October 11 with a concert at Stone Church in Brattleboro, Vermont. Barnett will then hit New York City for two nights at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust on October 12 and 13.

October 14 will see Courtney at the Sanctuary First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia before heading to Washington D.C.’s Atlantis on October 15. The tour then moves to the West Coast beginning with a concert in San Francisco on November 2. The trek will wrap with two nights at the Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles November 3 and 4.
