Friends & Family: Trampled By Turtles Bring Out Low’s Alan Sparhawk & Relatives At Hometown Concert In Duluth

Trampled by Turtles held a hometown 20th anniversary concert at Bayfront Festival Park in Duluth, Minnesota on Saturday and made it a friends and family affair. TBT was joined by Alan Sparhawk of fellow Duluth-based Low and the band also brought out a pair of family members during their performance near the shores of Lake Superior.

The first guest to emerge on Saturday was banjo player “Banjo Dave” Carroll’s father P.J. Carroll who added harmonica to “All the Good Times Are Gone.” Later in the set, frontman Dave Simonett’s stepdaughter Eden, who previously joined the band at Red Rocks, helped sing “Silver and Gold.”

Near the end of the set, Trampled By Turtles once again brought out Alan Sparhawk of the beloved Duluth-based group Low that Sparhawk co-founded with his late wife Mimi Parker. Adding electric guitar and vocals, Sparhawk’s sit-in included takes on TBT’s “Gasoline” and “Alone” as well as Low’s “Days Like These.”
