Madonna took to her social feeds on Monday for the first time since she was hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection. The 64-year-old pop icon thanked fans for their well wishes and provided an update on the status of her Celebration Tour.
“The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe,” wrote Madge about her upcoming trek. Madonna was originally slated to kick off the Celebration Tour in Vancouver on July 15. If Madonna’s “current plan” holds, the trek will now start in London on October 14. The “Like A Virgin” singer already had a second round of North American dates on the books for December 2023 and January 2024 before postponing the Celebration Tour.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” noted Madonna in her statement. “My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.”
