Ozzy Osbourne Cancels Highly Anticipated Return To The Stage At Power Trip Festival

Ozzy Osbourne has canceled his appearance at the upcoming Power Trip festival in October, which was set to be his first full live set in nearly five years.

The Prince of Darkness cited ongoing health issues as his reason for pulling out, saying, “Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.” He went on to add, “The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”

Power Trip would have marked a historical comeback for Ozzy. The singer recently announced his retirement from touring due to health issues including a 2019 spinal injury and his Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis, stating that his body could no longer handle the rigors of the road. In that same announcement, however, the former Black Sabbath frontman and heavy metal pioneer who began his first farewell tour back in 1992 noted that “My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.” Power Trip would have been the first such performance.

“My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward,” Ozzy explained. He concluded his message to fans with words of gratitude and a promise that “I will see you soon.”
