Twiddle returned to Levitt Pavilion For The Performing Arts for the band’s second-annual two-night run at Westport, CT riverfront amphitheater. The Vermont quartet currently in the midst of a farewell tour ahead of an indefinite hiatus brought plenty of friends along including lespecial, Kung Fu, and Oh He Dead, with many of the supporting acts joining in during Twiddle’s five sets.
After bringing up an array of interim Twiddle drummer Adrian Tramontano‘s Kung Fu bandmates (including fellow ringer Tim Palmieri who was called up to Lotus on a permanent basis back in 2021), Twiddle closed out the Levitt run with help from lespecial. During Twiddle’s third set of the day (following an afternoon VIP set and a regular first set), the band called up bassist Luke Bemand and Rory Dolan for “Latin Tang”. lespecial was returning the sit-in favor after frontman Mihali Savoulidis joined the band to sing Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” earlier in the day.
As is tradition, the rhythm section took over on “Latin Tang”, as Mihali burned one and Ryan Dempsey sat at his keyboards basking in the percussive breakdown. Tramontano and bassist Zdenek Gubb had some extra help with the jam, as Gubb and Bemand slapped back and forth and Rory made use of a variety of percussive instruments. The West End Blend horns Michael Bafundo (trumpet) and John Mundy (trombone) would eventually join in to give this “Latin Tang” some added flair.
