This weekend STS9 unveils ChromaLight — a concept inspired by the band’s interest in the connection between sound and light, the colors they associate with musical notes and scales and how they can tap into the power of the harmony between them — during their annual run at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Livestream STS9’s Red Rocks run on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 for free with a nugs.net subscription.

STS9’s theme for the shows is “Sound Of The Light.” Each night at Red Rocks will feature one ChromaLight set with both frames on Friday and Saturday seeing the group utilizing a new lighting rig and production. nugs.net subscribers can watch the livestreams for free starting at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.

Chromesthesia: when sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color, shape, and movement. Induced by different auditory experiences, such as music, phonemes, speech, and/or everyday sounds.

There are different philosophies on the connection between sound and color going back to Isaac Newton and beyond. As far as we know, there is no right or natural way to represent sound as color, it’s all about intention and intuition… at Red Rocks we will draw from the sources that were inspired by and ultimately let the music take us where it wants to go: ChromaLight.

Tonight, STS9 debuts their Selector 9 concept at the Paramount in Denver. Attendees submitted potential setlists for the show and fans voted on the selections until only two remained. Tribe devotees will find out which setlist won out when the band hits the stage.
