Joe Walsh announced a new location for VetsAid 2023 along with a stacked lineup including Jeff Lynne’s ELO, a special guest appearance from Stephen Stills and more. Held in different cities each year, the 2023 benefit concert is headed outdoors for the first time on November 12 at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California near San Diego.
Jeff Lynne’s ELO will make their first public performance in four years. Also set to perform are The War On Drugs, The Flaming Lips, Lucius and Walsh himself. Joe further detailed VetsAid 2023:
“VetsAid is back for 2023 and we’re taking it outside in beautiful San Diego to support California’s veteran population. My good buddy Jeff is bringing the ELO experience for their first show since 2019. The War on Drugs is one of my favorite bands out there doing it and I’m thrilled to be able to welcome them. The Flaming Lips are a perpetual joy machine that will dazzle our audience; if you know, you know and if you don’t – you will! Lucius are two spectacular vocal artists and songwriters that will take your breath away. And to top it all off we have my dear friend and hero Stephen Stills joining as a special guest. My friends and I will see you under the stars this November 12th!”
All net proceeds from VetsAid 2023 “will go directly to the veterans’ services charities selected through a vetting process coordinated in tandem with the Combined Arms Institute,” as per a press release. Taking place in Southern California, which has a large active duty and veteran population, 2023 will see VetsAid disbursing “grants exclusively to organizations based in Southern California or with operations on the ground in Southern California; grant applications are open now via the VetsAid website.”
