Fleetwood Mac shared a previously unreleased live rendition of their smash hit “Go Your Own Way.” The track is set for the legendary band’s upcoming Rumours Live album — due out on two-CD and two-LP sets September 8 via Rhino — captured at The Forum in Los Angeles on August 29, 1977.

Fleetwood Mac released their landmark album Rumours on February 4, 1977. The album hit No. 1 in April of that year and would go on to become one of the best-selling records of all time. A few weeks after Rumours arrived, the band — drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie, keyboardist Christine McVie, vocalist Stevie Nicks and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham — embarked on a world tour around the LP but returned to their adopted hometown of Los Angeles for a three-night stand at The Forum beginning on August 29.

Rumours engineer Ken Caillat captured Rumours Live at the August 29 concert featuring most of the songs from Rumours and Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 self-titled album, the first with new members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. The live LP contains classics like “Landslide,” “Never Going Back Again,” “Songbird,” “The Chain” and “Gold Dust Woman,” the latter the sole song from Rumours Live that was previously released. The rest of the 18-track live album is never-before-heard by the public and also includes a live rendtion of founding Fleetwood Mac member Peter Green’s “Oh Well.”

Fleetwood Mac biographer Sam Graham further detailed Rumours Live in the liner notes:

“The songs are familiar: ‘Dreams,’ ‘Go Your Own Way,’ ‘Say You Love Me,’ ‘Over My Head,’ and on and on. But most of these live versions are more muscular, more ferocious, than the album recordings, driven by the powerhouse Fleetwood-John McVie rhythm section and Buckingham’s febrile guitar playing; and instead of a rote recital of the hits, the group stretches out in concert, as songs like ‘Rhiannon,’ ‘World Turning,’ and ‘I’m So Afraid’ blossom into exuberant tours de force onstage.”
