Paramore has canceled its remaining U.S. tour dates as vocalist Hayley Williams continues to recover from lung problems. After recently trudging through four postponed shows, Williams revealed on Thursday that she would risk long-term damage to her voice if the band decided to finish out the final two shows of the tour.
“I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations,” Williams wrote on the band’s Twitter. “After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing that it’s past the point of me wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you. I’m now risking long term damage and I need to pay attention to my body. With that in mind and a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in both Portland and Salt Lake City.”

The band was due to perform at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland tonight, August 10th, and Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Sunday. Refunds will be available through the original point of purchase.
Williams had primed fans for this announcement on Wednesday night, posting to her Instagram Story immediately following the band’s show in Seattle. “Hey everybody, we just got off stage in Seattle. After speaking with our team and my doc, I know that trying to finish this tour is now going to come at a detriment to my health. My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up. It got a little scary tonight.”
During the band’s Monday show at San Francisco’s Chase Center where Williams was evidently struggling with lung issues, the singer shared vocals with a guest vocalist, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry. The four-time NBA champion joined the band on “Misery Business”, adding a new twist to the band’s longtime tradition of having fans sing the bridge.

Williams will hopefully get plenty of rest as Paramore’s next scheduled concert isn’t until October 6th with a show at Webster Hall as part of The New Yorker Festival. After that, the band heads out on a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Next year, the band goes on tour opening for Taylor Swift.
