What began in 2017 as a 70th birthday celebration for the late Gregg Allman has since steamrolled into the annual tradition, The Allman Family Revival. Now in its seventh year, the traveling show helmed by Gregg’s son, Devon Allman, will hit the road in 2023 under the new banner, The Allman Betts Family Revival.

Along with the new name, Devon and Dickey Betts‘ son, Duane Betts, will introduce a new format to the tour. Audiences will witness two full sets, with the first composed of songs written by Gregg Allman and the second of ones penned by Dickey Betts. Together, these heirs to their fathers’ legacies will explore the vast Allman Brothers Band songbook, from their greatest hits to celebrated deep cuts. A press release promises “nearly three action-packed hours” of music.

Devon and Duane will reactivate their Allman Betts Band project for the tour, which was on hiatus for much of 2022 and 2023. Joining them are Anders Osborne, Luther and Cody Dickenson (North Mississippi Allstars), Jimmy Hall (Jeff Beck, Wet Willie), Jackie Greene, Larry McCray, Orbi Orbison, and Ally Venable. A press release notes that Tal Wilkenfield (Jeff Beck) will handle bass duties for the Allman Betts Band.

In addition to that consistent lineup of backing musicians, a string of guest artists will join the Revival on certain dates. Sierra Hull, G. Love, and more guests to be announced will appear with the Allman Betts Family Revival in select markets. The tour will also feature The Brotherhood of Light for visuals Allman Brothers Band fans will remember from the band’s heyday.

The tour is due to kick off on November 25th in Saint Louis. The 16-date trek will include stops at familiar venues including the Allman Brothers stronghold the Beacon Theatre in New York City, along with a trip to Macon, GA, and a show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
