Back In The Saddle: Check Out Aerosmith’s Setlist From Opening Night Of Farewell Tour

Aerosmith returned to the stage last Saturday, September 2 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to launch their 40-date “Peace Out” Farewell Tour. The iconic classic rock band’s first show in nearly a year saw Aerosmith run through 18 songs including a bevy of hits and a smattering of album tracks.

The immersive 360° production began after The Black Crowes‘ opening set with footage from throughout the band’s career displayed on a large screen that hung over the triangular stage. Singer Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, joined by John Douglas subbing for drummer Joey Kramer, then lit into usual Aerosmith opening song “Back In The Saddle.”

Aerosmith continued on with smashes from the second act of their legendary career “Love In An Elevator,” “Cryin’” and “Janie’s Got A Gun.” The quintet then dusted off “Adam’s Apple” from 1975’s Toys In The Attic for its first performance in five years. Other gems played by Aerosmith to satiate diehards were “No More, No More,” “Seasons Of Wither” and “Hangman Jury.”

Yet the focus was on the hits with “Livin’ On The Edge,” “Rag Doll,” “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” and “Sweet Emotion” among the songs making the setlist for Aerosmith’s main set in Philadelphia. The night included one cover as Perry sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Stop Messin’ Around.” Joe Perry also took a moment to honor Jeff Beck by showing the crowd a guitar the late guitarist’s family had gifted him.

Steven Tyler and company brought the main set to a close with “Toys In The Attic” as huge balloons descended from the ceiling of Wells Fargo Center. Aerosmith wrapped up the night by performing an encore featuring “Dream On” and “Walk This Way,” two of their most beloved songs.
