For the first time since canceling all of their tour dates back in August 2022, Black Pumas will return to the stage. A newly announced run of December tour dates will take the Austin-based neo-psychedelic soul outfit throughout their native Texas with special guest Danielle Ponder.

The four-show Black Pumas run will begin with two shows in the band’s native Austin at ACL Live on December 5th and 6th. After that, the project led by multi-instrumentalist/producer Adrian Quesada and singer/lyricist Eric Burton will travel to The Factory in Dallas (12/8) before wrapping at the House of Blues in Houston (12/9).

Tickets for the Black Pumas’ 2023 Texas run of tour dates go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. CT. Pre-sales are happening now, accessible by texting BLACKPUMAS to 29147 to get an access code.

This announcement comes weeks after Black Pumas revealed details of their first album in four years, Chronicles Of A Diamond. The sophomore follow-up to the group’s critically and commercially acclaimed self-titled debut, the album’s announcement and lead single, “More Than A Love Song“, broke a prolonged period of inactivity for the band.

After abruptly canceling all of their tour dates last summer citing fatigue from years of heavy touring, the group fueled rumors of a breakup by not releasing any new music or planning any new tour dates for over a year. Now, with Chronicles Of A Diamond heading for shelves on October 27th and Black Pumas returning to the stage in December, it appears that the band is back in full force.

“With us for how quickly our success happened,” Burton recently told NME of the sudden stoppage in play, “I believe that it was really important for our team to ensure that we were taking every opportunity to capitalize on the movement by sending us out to different cities and countries around the world at this point to play as many quality experiences that we could for the growth of the brand as well as the stability of it.”

“We, as a group, feel like we will only get so much time in an attention span to solidify our place in the heart and psyche of the average music listener,” he continued. “For how hard we went, it was just time for a break. When we went home, it felt like the body telling the mind like that it’s just done. It almost felt like a kid fighting sleep. At some point you have to take a step back.”
