Ohio indie-folk troupe Caamp has canceled the remainder of its 2023 tour dates and will take the rest of the year off, the band announced on Wednesday. A note to fans from singer/guitarist Taylor Meier cited health reasons for the sudden hiatus.
“Dear fans,” Meier wrote in a post to fans on the band’s social media pages. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the rest of this year is canceled. In the past few months, I have experienced some untimely knocks to my health, and the mental side of things isn’t where it needs to be. I am not well enough to give you my best. The band and team are in full support, we need some rest. I hope you can forgive this, as we have canceled hardly any shows in our 8 touring years. All headline tickets will be refunded, and Caamp will return when I’m back on top. All my love. T”
The band canceled nine headlining appearances, including one tonight, September 6th, in Raleigh as well as a two-night run at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium next month. Additionally, Caamp will no longer perform at Moon River Music Festival, Treasure Island Amphitheater for a co-bill with Trampled By Turtles, and Wild Horses Festival.

As Meier alluded to, Caamp has kept up a breakneck pace since emerging out of Ohio University in southeast Ohio back in the late 2010s. In just a few short years, the original duo of Meier and Evan Westfall (which has grown to include bassist Matt Vinson and keyboardist Joseph Kavalec) went from playing open mics in bars and coffeeshops to headlining Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The band released its third and most recent full-length studio album, Lavender Days, last June.
