In 1996 virtuosic guitarists Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson hit the road for the inaugural G3 Tour. Satriani, Vai and Johnson will reunite the original lineup for a series of G3 Tour dates in January and February 2024.
Joe Satriani initially concieved the idea for the tour to showcase guitar mastery in 1995. The lineup continually changed after the first outing with Robert Fripp, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Petrucci and Steve Lukather among past participants. Satriani was joined by Petrucci and Phil Collen for the last G3 Tour in 2018. Vai’s most recent appearance on the trek came in 2016, while Johnson last took part in the G3 Tour back in 2006.
The 13-city excursion focuses on the West Coast. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson open the G3 Reunion Tour 2024 at Rialto Theatre in Tucson, Arizona. Additional January dates follow in Highland, California; Scottsdale, Arizona; Las Vegas; Spokane, Washington and Seattle.
After gigs in Salem, Oregon on February 1 and Reno, Nevada on February 2 the G3 Reunion Tour 2024 swings back through California. The three ace guitarists will play Oakland on February 3, Fresno on February 5, El Cajon on February 7 before the tour is currently set to conclude with a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre on February 9 and 10.

I can’t wait to take the stage with Eric and Steve again!” exclaimed Satriani. “It’s going to be an honor to reunite with Joe and Steve and do the G3 tour together again. I’m proud to be a part of it,” added Johnson with Vai stating, “It’s always an honor to contribute to a G3 tour, and to be with Joe and Eric again playing on stage is like living life to its fullest!’”
