Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady will bring Electric Hot Tuna back to the city where the band started nearly 65 years later for two of the project’s last three plugged-in performances. Kaukonen, Casady and drummer Justin Guip will play The Fillmore in San Francisco before ending their final run in Denver.
Electric Hot Tuna says farewell to the City By The Bay with two nights at The Fillmore on December 1 and 2. Proceeds from the show on the 2nd benefit The Rex Foundation. Special guests are expected to join the trio at the final Electric Hot Tuna concert in San Francisco. “On December 10th 1965, Jorma and Jack, as members of Jefferson Airplane, took to the stage for the first show that Bill Graham produced at his legendary venue. Now 58 years and countless shows later, they return to the Fillmore for their final show in San Francisco as Electric Hot Tuna,” explained Rex Foundation executive director Cameron Sears. “We are thrilled that the stars have aligned for Rex to be a small part of this amazing night that celebrates two of the most seminal players to come out of the San Francisco music scene. I consider them family and thank them for all that they have done throughout their career to elevate the power of musical expression and the community that comes with it.”
The final Hot Tuna Electric run, dubbed the “Going Fishing Tour 2023,” concludes at Denver’s Paramount Theatre on December 7. Score tickets now through Ticketmaster.com.
