moe. returned to Peoria on Thursday, where they treated fans on the RiverFront to a four-song second set. The sextet ended the jam-filled closing stanza with their second version of “Four” since guitarist Chuck Garvey suffered a stroke in 2021.
The band is well familiar with the Peoria area as the traditional co-headliners of the Summer Camp Music Festival. The Memorial Day Weekend event at Three Sisters Park in nearby Chillicothe was held for the last time in its usual form in 2023. However, Summer Camp producer Ian Goldberg indicated the aim to put on a “redefined camping and music experience at Three Sisters Park every Memorial Day starting in 2024 that will be presented by Summer Camp.” Guitarist Al Schnier said moe. “looked forward to seeing [the band’s Summer Camp family] Memorial Day Weekend” during the “Al.nouncements” portion of the evening. “We’ll have more news about that shortly,” Schnier added.
Schnier, Garvey, bassist Rob Derhak, keyboardist Nate Wilson, drummer Vinnie Amico and percussionist Jim Loughlin kicked off last night’s show with “Threw It All Away.” The reggae-tinged number led into “Skitchin’ Buffalo.” Loughlin then led the band through the instrumental “Chromatic Nightmare.” Next, Rob Derhak, who curated the setlist, helmed the recently debuted “Don’tcha Know.”
The first set continued with a Wilson-sung “Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys,” the evening’s lone cover. A lengthy coupling of “Rise” and “Blue Jeans Pizza” ended the frame.
moe. chose “Bring You Down” to open the second set on Thursday. Schnier peeled off a fierce solo ahead of a transition jam that gave way to the beloved “Lazarus.” The band took their time working through the 22-year-old tune. Last night’s adventurous +20-minute “Lazarus” was followed by “Blonde Hair & Blue Eyes,” a song Rob Derhak wrote about his daughter Emma. moe. capped the set with Chuck Garvey’s “Four” which was recently dusted off at the Borderland Festival near Buffalo. While the Borderland version came within “Rebubula,” the group went with a standalone take in Peoria. Chuck’s solo was also much longer last night as the guitarist built the run to multiple crowd-pleasing peaks.
After Schnier delivered the news of moe. coming back to the area next Memorial Day Weekend as part of his “Al.nouncements,” he fronted the group on their “Mexico” encore. moe.’s fall tour continues tonight in Madison, Wisconsin.

“rock the pink.” goods will be available throughout the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Additionally, moe. are offering incredible experiences to those who donate to the American Cancer Society through the band’s initative.
