The Grateful Dead shared a Wake Of The Flood interactive mixing board as part of the 50th anniversary celebration around the 1973 album. The interactive mixing board arrived today along with Wake Of The Flood (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition).
Last year, the Grateful Dead shared an interactive mixing board for the 50th anniversary of the band’s legendary August 27, 1972 Sunshine Daydream concert at Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon. The Wake Of The Flood edition boasts five songs from the album: “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo,” “Eyes Of The World,” “Stella Blue,” “Prelude / Part I” and “Let It Grow,” the latter two otherwise known as the “Weather Report Suite.”
The Flood interactive mixing board can be used in a number of ways. It’s great as a learning tool as users can mix Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir’s guitars, Phil Lesh’s bass, Keith Godchaux’s keyboards and Bill Kreutzmann’s drums in any configuration to better hear how they fit together. There’s also a channel for vocals and separate stems for guests on the album.
Hit the solo button to dive deeper into specific parts or just to hear them more clearly (highly recommend soloing Jerry’s pedal steel on “Stella Blue,” Vassar Clements fiddle on “Half-Step,” Bobby’s acoustic guitar on “Prelude” and Guests on “Let It Grow.”). Finally, you can mute a specific part to jam along with the band on your instrument of choice.
