Stephen Marley shared “Winding Roads,” a single from his forthcoming studio album, Old Soul, due out via Gong Collective/UMe/Ghetto Youths International next Friday, September 15. Both Grateful Dead/Dead & Company guitarist Bob Weir and singer-songwriter Jack Johnson are among guests joining Stephen Marley on the soulful cut.

“Winding Roads” was recorded at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios facility in San Rafael, California. Weir’s Wolf Bros bandmates bassist Don Was and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti also contributed to the third pre-release single off Old Coul. Stephen Marley previously unveiled the LP’s title track and the song “Cool As The Breeze.”

Old Soul marks Stephen Marley’s first full-length studio album since 2016’s Revelation Pt. 2 – The Fruit of Life. Other guests include Stephen’s brothers, Ziggy Marley and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, plus Eric Clapton, Slightly Stoopid and Buju Banton. Clapton contributed to an acoustic take on “I Shot The Sheriff,” a song originally written and recorded in 1973 by Stephen’s father Bob Marley which Slowhand covered in 1974.

The 14-track album was mainly recorded in a new studio Stephen Marley set up during the COVID lockdown on a remote family farm in the Florida countryside. Old Soul contains a mix of Stephen Marley originals and covers of such songs as Frank Sinatra’s “These Foolish Things (Reminds Me Of You),” The Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” and Ray Charles’ “Georgia On My Mind.”
