Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) and singer-songwriter Jess Williamson were guests on the latest episode of nationally syndicated radio program eTown. The episode finale saw Jurvanen and Williamson teaming with hosts Nick Forster and Helen Forster as well as the eTones house band for the John Prine classic “Angel From Montgomery.”

“Angel From Montgomery” originally appeared on Prine’s 1971 self-titled debut album. The song has been covered by a constellation of artists throughout the decades, chief among them Bonnie Raitt, who included it on her 1974 album Streetlights.

For the recent eTown version, Williamson handled the first verse while Jurvanen helmed the second followed by an outstanding solo from the eTones pedal steel player before Afie took a spin on his Telecaster. Jurvanen also traded licks with co-host and Hot Rize member Nick Forster to conclude the collaboration.

Both Bahamas and Jess Williamson have new albums out. eTown also saw Jurvanen performing “Somebody Like Me” off his 2023 country music-inspired LP, Boot Cut, which arrived last week on September 15. Williamson released her record, Time Ain’t Accidental, on June 9 and performed the album’s “Hunter” on eTown. Watch both performances below:
