Dave Matthews Band kicked off its annual Labor Day Weekend run at The Gorge Amphitheatre with help from Molly Tuttle and her Golden Highway bandmate Bronwyn Keith-Hynes—two musicians who “were not yet borned” when DMB first formed in Keith-Hynes’ hometown of Charlottesville, VA back in 1991.

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway played before DMB on Friday following an opening set by Briscoe. Towards the end of their set, Matthews appeared on stage to lend his voice on “Yosemite”, just as he does on the album version of the track from the recently release City Of Gold.

Later on, after DMB delivered a wide-ranging setlist furnished with deep cuts, classics, and four songs off the band’s new album Walk Around The Moon, the pair of young musicians returned the favor. First, Matthews welcomed Bronwyn Keith-Hynes to sit in on fan favorite “Tripping Billies”, to which she added fiddle parts reminiscent of Boyd Tinsley, who departed the group in 2018 after more than 20 years.

Keith-Hynes remained on stage as Matthews welcomed Molly Tuttle to join the augmented ensemble for the last two songs of the set, “Spoon” and “Ants Martching”.
