Bob Dylan launched the Fall 2023 North American leg of his Rough And Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour 2021-2024 on Sunday with his first of two concerts at Midland Theatre in Kansas City. Dylan opened the show and trek with the geographically-appropriate cover of Lieber-Stoller’s “Kansas City,” last played in 1986, and also tacked on seven new dates to the end of the tour.
The newly-announced tour dates begin with two nights at Baltimore’s Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on November 24 and 25. Dylan then heads to Virginia for concerts in Richmond on November 27 and Roanoke on November 29. Next up are shows in Huntington, West Virginia on November 30 and Richmond, Kentucky on December 2. Bob Dylan is now slated to end the fall leg in Evansville, Indiana on December 3.
Tickets for all seven shows go on sale this Friday, October 6 at 10 a.m. local time.

Bob Dylan dusted off three classic originals for his surprise Farm Aid set with The Heartbreakers. However, none of the songs played at Farm Aid — “Maggie’s Farm,” “Positively 4th Street” and “Ballad Of A Thin Man” — were performed last night in Kansas City. While the setlist on Sunday was similar to other Rough And Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour stops, there was one big surprise. Dylan and his band — guitarists Bob Britt and Doug Lancio, multi-instrumentalist Donnie Herron, drummer Jerry Pentecost and bassist Tony Garnier — kicked off the evening with “Kansas City.” The song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller was first recorded by Little Willie Littlefield in 1952. Bob Dylan previously performed “Kansas City” once all the way back on July 24, 1986 as per BobDylan.com.
Listen to an audience recording of Dylan’s “Kansas City” from Sunday night below:
The rest of the 17-song concert was heavy on material from Dylan’s latest studio album, 2020’s Rough And Rowdy Ways. Bob played nine 10 cuts that appear on the LP last night in Kansas City. Dylan classics to make the setlist on Sunday included “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” and “Watching The River Flow.” Also of note was a performance of “Not Fade Away,” a Buddy Holly cover busted out last April in Tokyo.
Bob Dylan returns to Kansas City’s Midland Theatre tonight. Scroll below for a full list of tour dates.
