Cat Power Announces Bob Dylan 1966 Royal Albert Hall Recreation At Carnegie Hall

Cat Power (Chan Marshall) is bringing her Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert to New York City’s esteemed Carnegie Hall. The performance is set to take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024.

Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert premiered at the eponymous historic London venue on November 5, 2022. A live album of Marshall’s recreation of Dylan’s outstanding and infamous 1966 World Tour setlist is due out via Domino on November 10.

Dylan closed his 1966 World Tour — which saw audiences not too keen on his electric performances with musicians who would become The Band backing him — with a pair of concerts at Royal Albert Hall May 26 and 27. Fans are perhaps more familiar with the show on May 17 at Manchester’s Free Trade Hall.

Widely circulated bootlegs of the stellar Manchester play were mislabeled as “Royal Albert Hall” and the name stuck. The Manchester concert officially arrived as The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The “Royal Albert Hall” Concert in 1998.

Cat Power has previewed her recreation of the notorious Dylan show — which saw the legendary singer-songwriter doing acoustic and electric sets — with “She Belongs To Me” and “Ballad Of A Thin Man.” To further preview the album and herald her newly announced Cat Power Sing Dylan performance at Carnegie Hall, Marshall shared her versions of “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “Like A Rolling Stone.” Listen below:
