And you may ask yourself: what are Pigeons Playing Ping Pong doing for Halloween? And you may tell yourself: they’re going to merge discographies from two of the most iconic art-rock bands of all time. Well, if you already had that idea, then there were “No Surprises” when Pigeons Playing Ping Pong revealed they will pay tribute to Talking Heads and Radiohead with a Talking Radioheads Halloween run.
PPPP’s two-night Talking Radioheads affair begins on October 29th at New Orleans’ famed Tipitina’s. The band will then travel to the Lone Star State to celebrate Halloween proper at Austin’s Scoot Inn on October 31st. This two-night run will kick off Pigeons’ cross-country fall tour, which features Dogs In A Pile as support throughout, including during the Halloween run.
Talking Radioheads builds upon a rich tradition of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Halloween shows. The band previously explored the music of Talking Heads with 2019’s Stop Making Cake which melded the new wave act’s classic songbook with selections from Cake. In 2020, the band presented a fan-less Flockbuster livestream featuring covers from classic movies, followed in 2021 by Daft Side Of The Moon with Pink Floyd linking up with Daft Punk. Last year, Pigeons honored rock giants of past and present with The Who Fighters, combining The Who and Foo Fighters.
