Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter announced 2023 Fall Tour dates. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is touring around his 2022 debut solo album, Speed Of Heat, which features contributions from his former Doobie bandmate Michael McDonald and more.
“We plan on performing virtually all the songs from Speed of Heat, along with a few surprises,” Baxter stated. “The tours have gone extremely well, and it has been way too much fun and gratifying to perform these songs for a live audience, especially with a band as outstanding and amazing as the one I have the privilege of touring with me. The response has been incredible and just makes me want to keep on doing it!”
The guitarist and his ace band —- bassist Hank Horton (first-call session player for the Detroit Symphony), drummer Mark Damian (top session and live player) and keyboardist James Raymond (composer, studio, touring musician and David Crosby’s son) — kick off the East Coast run around Speed of Heat with a two-night stand at the famed Iridium Jazz Club in New York City on November 7 and 8.
Baxter then heads to Boston for a concert at City Winery. Next, the guitarist and company hop down to Virginia for a trio of shows including Hopewell, Virginia Beach and Alexandria. November 14 will see Baxter in Sellersville, Pennsylvania before returning to Massachusetts for a show in Yarmouth on Cape Cod.
The guitarist will continue through New England with an engagement in Manchester, New Hampshire on November 17. A concert in Roslyn, New York follows before Baxter concludes the tour in Old Saybrook, Connecticut on November 19.
