Tonight’s The Disco Biscuits show at the State Theatre in Portland, Maine has been canceled. The decision comes in the wake of a mass shooting at two locations in Lewiston, Maine in which at least 18 people were killed and 13 were injured as per a New York Times report. A manhunt is underway in search of the suspected gunman.
“Sitting here on our bus, sad and in disbelief. We found out about the events in Maine right after the show in Hartford last night, and our hearts absolutely sank for the entire community,” wrote the Disco Biscuits on social media. “Out of respect for those who lost their lives, their families and friends, and everyone in the Maine community who are no doubt reeling from these events, we will be canceling tonight’s show at the State Theatre.”
The band added they are “looking at options to return to Portland in the near future” and will move forward with shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York this Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28. Refunds are available via point of purchase or ticketholders can hold onto their tickets for use on a rescheduled date that is to be announced.
“We love you Maine, you are in our hearts and we hope to be back soon. Stay safe everyone,” ended the note from the Disco Biscuits.
