Watch O.A.R. Perform Bon Jovi Classics With Richie Sambora At Oceans Calling

O.A.R. delivered a guest-filled covers set at the Oceans Calling festival in Ocean City, Maryland on Sunday. Billed as O.A.R. & Friends, the festival’s co-founders offered songs from Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Run DMC and Bon Jovi with the latter two featuring members of the groups including Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.

O.A.R. kicked things off with U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” before welcoming Oceans Calling performers Virginia Coalition for Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” G. Love then joined the band for the Merle Kilgore-penned, John Cash-popularized “Ring Of Fire.”

Fitz and the Tantrums then helped out on Eurhythmics’ “Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This” before sacred steel ace Robert Randolph ripped up Led Zeppelin’s “Fool In The Rain.” Co-founder of pioneering hip-hop group Run-DMC, Daryl McDaniels — who performs under the stage name DMC — then joined O.A.R. for “Black Betty,” a song originating with folk/blues great Lead Belly with DMC recently releasing a reworking of the song titled “She Gets Me High.”

DMC stayed on for the Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right,” Run-DMC’s classic “It’s Tricky” (with G. Love) and the hip-hop group’s landmark collaboration with Aerosmith on “Walk This Way,” with Randolph and G. Love. It was then Richie Sambora’s turn to help O.A.R. close out the set with Bon Jovi hits “Wanted Dead Or Alive” and “Livin’ On A Prayer.”
