Watch Spafford Take Pink Floyd Cover Debut Deep In Oregon

Spafford delivered a three-night run at Bruno’s Cavern in Cave Junction, Oregon over the Halloween Weekend. Saturday’s show saw the band unveil a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell” as the penultimate song of the first set.

“Run Like Hell” appears on Pink Floyd’s landmark 1979 double LP, The Wall. Spafford’s rendition of “Run Like Hell” in Southern Oregon not only marked the first performance but also their first Floyd cover. The galloping tune is conducive to disco jams which Spaff embarked on following “Run Like Hell’s” familiar form.

The improv sequence saw bassist Jordan Fairless holding down the groove over a dance beat from drummer Nick Tkachyk. The song gave newest member keyboardist Cory Schechtman time to shine on synth. Guitarist Brian Moss also provided some fretboard fireworks which led into new tune “Left On The Runway,” appearing on Spaff’s 2022 album Simple Mysteries. Spafford kicked off the concert with their cover of jazz great Eddie Harris’ “Sham Time.” A pairing of “Diesel Driver” and “Skyline” came ahead of the “Run Like Hell” premiere and “Left On The Runway.” Spafford continued their explorations with a three-song second set consisting of “Walls,” Jimmy Rosenberg Trio’s “Made For Wesley” and “All In.”
