analogr com announces live dead exclusive auction of rare curated items from the grateful dead

ANALOGr.com announces an auction celebrating the history and cultural impact of the Grateful Dead launching online on November 30, 2023. The sale reflects the impact the Grateful Dead had on art and culture from the late 1960s through the present with this summer’s epic Dead & Co Final Tour dates. The auction brings together memorabilia from archives of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Billy Kreutzmann, Dan Healy, Rob Wasserman of Rat Dog, and many others.

Featuring over 100 lots, the auction consists of unique contemporary art, instruments, photography, vintage and modern items, vintage t-shirts, backstage passes, rare ephemera including flyers and posters, and more. The majority of items on offer in the sale have been consigned directly by artists or their estates and the full contents of the auction will be announced at a later date. Collectors will also find treasures sourced from Herb Greene, Jay Blakesberg, Ron Rakow, Retro Photo Archive, Adrian Boot, Rock Scully, Stanley Mouse, Wally Heider Studios, Courtenay Pollock, Dick Latvala, Marty Clein, Robbi Cohn, Antonio Reonegro, Anthony Coscia, Nora Sage (of Art Peddler and JGarcia license) and Jason Scheuner.

Ron Rakow’s photos were in storage for almost 50 years before they were discovered by photographer Jay Blakesberg and author Josh Baron. Newly released as fine art prints, these two images will be part of the ANALOGr auction on December 2 at ANALOGr Headquarters in Los Angeles.

One of the most incredible featured items for auction with ANALOGr is the fully functional 1/4- scale replica of the original “Wall Of Sound.” The Wall of Sound was a technological groundbreaking concert sound reinforcement system designed in 1973 specifically for the Grateful Dead’s live performances. Designed by Owsley “`Bear” Stanley’s desire for a distortion-free sound system that could also serve as its own monitoring system. Due to its size, weight and resulting expense, the full Wall of Sound was only used from March to October of 1974. ANALOGr will be auctioning the Wall of Sound 1/4-scale replica with speaker system stands and scaffolding 14’ wide-by-10’ tall; the ultimate in-home sound system!

Other exclusive items are Jerry Garcia’s Touring Guitar Rig which features Bob Weir’s McIntosh Amp used with the 1974 Wall Of Sound; a pair of 1972 Hard Trucker Speakers with Original Courtenay Pollock tie-dye art; “The Cubes” made for Grateful Dead Family & Studio by Hard Truckers, this pair was owned by “Ramrod” and son Rudson Shurtliff; 1100+ unused Backstage Passes from 1977-1995; a collection of official vintage Dead shirts dating back to 1978; Rob Wasserman’s stand up bass, and 40 items from his days performing with RatDog; Wally Heider Studios recording equipment including microphones and preamps; five original paintings from Stanley Mouse based on his original Workingman’s Dead original artwork.
