As he gears up to ring in the new year with three nights at New Orleans’ UNO Lakefront Arena, Billy Strings has shared full-show footage from his 2022 New Year’s Eve blowout at the same venue.
Newly shared pro-shot video brings fans back to December 30th and 31st, 2022, when the bluegrass firebrand capped off a year full of landmark achievements, including a trip to the Grammy Awards with a pair of nominations, ascending to playing arenas, turning 30, completing his first tour of Europe, and fulfilling a lifelong dream of releasing an album with his dad. Between the two shows, Strings and his cohorts Billy Failing, Jarrod Walker, Royal Masat, and Alex Hargreaves delivered a total of 74 songs.
Along with video from the New Year’s run, Strings shared full-show footage from the band’s 2022 fall tour-closing run at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. on November 18th and 19th. The four shows worth of pro-shot footage arrives during a rare lull in Billy Strings’ tour schedule, between the end of his second tour Europe and his upcoming return to UNO Lakefront Arena for New Year’s Eve.
In addition to the 2022 footage, Billy Strings also just shared a mini-documentary covering his recent European tour along with full-show video from his show in London.
This year’s New Year’s run will cap off another impressive year for Strings, which saw the young musician win Artist of the Year for the second year in a row at the Americana Awards and Entertainer of the Year for the third year in a row at the 34rd Annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards. He also appears on the new Hunger Games soundtrack alongside Molly Tuttle and Sierra Ferrell and is once again nominated for multiple awards at this year’s Grammy Awards, including Best Bluegrass Album for Me/And/Dad with his father Terry Barber and for collaborations with Dierks Bentley and Willie Nelson.
After ringing in the new year in New Orleans, Strings and his band will take a short but well-deserved break before returning to the road in February for a run of winter tour dates. Strings will also join Chris Thile for the final concert of The 65th Street Session series at New York Philharmonic. For a full list of upcoming shows and to purchase tickets, visit his website.
