After nearly a year of heavy touring, Cool Cool Cool has released its debut single, “Never Noticed”, via Color Red.
Until now, the band has pulled from its members’ individual solo projects and various artistic influences to craft the setlists for its live shows, which have included everything from performing as both the opening act and backing band for Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew‘s Remain In Light trek to supporting Andy Frasco & The U.N. on their L’Optimist tour.
The band, comprised of former members of Turkuaz, finds an engaging place to percolate on the new track, using a chugging bass line, a funky rhythm guitar riff, and an impactful horn motif to build a meditative ambiance that lasts throughout its five-minute and 28-second runtime. Simple yet striking vocal melodies together with a hint of static glow as the track progresses, helping cultivate an engaging, lo-fi allure despite its sprightly bounce.

While band members Shira Elias (vocals), Sammi Garett (vocals), Josh Schwartz (tenor/baritone sax, vocals), Michelangelo Carubba (drums), Greg Sanderson (alto sax/tenor sax, vocals), Craig Brodhead (guitar, keys), and Chris Brouwers (trumpet, keys) performed together for years as part of Turkuaz, “Never Noticed” marks their first true collaboration on record as creative equals. As the band said of the new track in a statement, “The realization of our universal connectedness is at the heart of this song, which we hope the listener can associate with in their own lives. We want people to contemplate and discover how our stories are told and how they interconnect. And of course, we want them to celebrate.“
