H.E.R. and Foo Fighters are offering two sides of the same song with a new, double-sided single of “The Glass”. The alt-rockers previously welcomed H.E.R. for a surprise sit-in on the But Here We Are track last month during their Saturday Night Live appearance.
Multi-hyphenate H.E.R. takes a softer approach to “The Glass” than what’s found on the Foo’s first album since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Textured tremolo guitar licks introduce the cover and wrap around H.E.R.’s gently rising and falling vocals, adding even more emotion to the grief-stricken track. As H.E.R.’s solemn reflection stacks against Dave Grohl shouting into the void, the two versions underscore the varying ways in which different people process grief.
Foo Fighters will release the two recordings of “The Glass” as a double A-sided 7″ vinyl, out December 29th and available here for pre-order.
H.E.R. has made a string of rocking live appearances lately, starting with her guest spot with Foo Fighters during SNL‘s Halloween episode. Earlier this month, she also appeared at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions, performing a medley of songs honoring inductee Chaka Kahn. Today, November 17th, is a double release day for H.E.R., who also dropped a number of remixes including an acoustic version of Nigerian singer Asake‘s “Lonely At The Top”.
